Christ the King provides a safe and caring environment for its students. Each adult employee and school volunteer has the obligation to act as a professional and educator at all times. Safety is ensured by adhering to the following policies and procedures.
Standards for CTK Employees & Volunteers
For the safety of our staff and students and in accordance with the regulations of the State of Illinois and the Archdiocese of Chicago, Christ the King conducts background checks on all applicants for employment, employees, contractors, and volunteers.
In accordance with the regulations of the State of Illinois, all new staff must have their fingerprints taken, as part of criminal history record checks with IL State Police & FBI.
Processing of all employees through the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services State Central Register, a child abuse/neglect tracking system (CANTS), which includes all reports of suspected child abuse or neglect, as well as the outcome of the investigation of these reports.
Required orientation and ongoing training for all employees through Protecting God’s Children/ VIRTUS.
All Jesuit employees are accredited by Praesidium.
All CTK employees are “mandated reporters” as outlined in the State of Illinois’ Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act, 325 ILCS 5/1, et seq. All staff must complete Mandated Reporter training. If a CTK employee has reasonable cause to believe a student, known to them in his/her professional and official capacity, may be an abused or neglected child, s/he shall immediately report or cause a report to be made to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services by contacting the Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-25-ABUSE.
All employees and regular volunteers are required to participate in an orientation and ongoing training through VIRTUS
