Chicago Bears Support New CTK Football Team The Gladiator football team welcomed surprise visitors the Chicago Bears and Mike Glennon to a recent practice at Christ the King Jesuit Prep’s West Side campus. Not only did the Bears QB throw a few passes and share words of encouragement with the team, he also generously donated new Nike cleats to all of the players - a critical need in fielding a new team. The visit served as an emotional boost to the players and coaches as they prepare for their inaugural tackle football season in CTK’s 10th year. Head coach, Kevin Gallmeier remarked, “We appreciate what Mike and the Bears are doing. It’s great for the school, great for the community, and great for these kids.” While at CTK, Mike and the Bears extended an invitation for the players and coaches to be their guests at Bears Training Camp. During the trip to Bourbonnais earlier this week, the team got a chance to see up close how the pros prepare for their season. Mike’s visit was featured on the Inside the Bears television show which aired on FOX32 and CW50. A video of this on-air segment, plus some additional footage from Bears camp is available here at Bears.com. Fielding a football team requires a significant investment of time and resources. From equipment, uniforms, and practice gear to associated coaches and staff, the startup costs are substantial. We are grateful to those who have generously supported this initiative to-date, and would welcome additional, greatly needed donations. Please contact Steve Holte at (773) 413-3509 or [email protected]. The Gladiator football team’s first game will be Friday, August 25th at 7 PM at fellow Chicago Jesuit school, St. Ignatius College Prep. Please come out and support the newest Gladiator team. Thank you Mike Glennon and the Chicago Bears! Go Gladiators! Print
