CTK Elevates Katie Olson to Principal Position The Christ the King Jesuit College Prep community is delighted to announce the appointment of Katie Olson as Principal, beginning December 1st. Ms. Olson has been serving as CTK’s Interim Principal since January 2021. “Katie is an exceptionally talented school administrator and is a proven leader in Catholic education. I am grateful for her willingness to serve as our interim principal this past year and am very confident in her ability to lead our school community moving forward,” stated CTK President, Clem Martin. Katie Olson is an experienced Catholic school educator and leader committed to making quality educational opportunities available to all students. She started at Christ the King Jesuit College Prep in the Austin community in July 2015 as an Assistant Principal with responsibility for freshman and sophomore students, admissions/enrollment, and the school’s after-school academic center. She was elevated to the Interim Principal position in January, and despite the challenges of the last year, her exemplary leadership, communication, and organizational skills have helped the school and its 385 students to continue to thrive. As noted by Ms. Michele Copeland, Co-Chair of CTK’s Parent Organization, “In our working relationship to-date, Ms. Olson has always been available, resourceful, and selfless in serving the various members of the CTK community. She listens to concerns and comes back with resolutions that ensure the needs of students and their families are met. She has done an outstanding job during trying times to allow CTK’s students to safely continue their education and activities and is very deserving of the promotion to CTK’s Principal.” Immediately prior to working at Christ the King Jesuit, Katie served as the Principal of Our Lady of Charity elementary school in Cicero. She previously taught at St. Sabina Academy. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame and received a master’s degree in education and social policy from Northwestern University. She went on to earn a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Notre Dame, as part of the Remick Leadership program. She also serves on the Chicago Jesuit Academy Academic Committee, and as a Catholic Charities of Chicago Advisory Board member. She was a recipient of the Heart of the School award from the Archdiocese of Chicago in 2018 for her demonstration of Christian service, love, and compassion in living out the Catholic mission each day at CTK. “It is an honor to work alongside the amazing students, families, faculty, and staff of Christ the King Jesuit College Prep,” shared Ms. Olson. “I am inspired by the ways in which our community lives out our Gospel mission each day. It is a privilege to be named principal of our students, who are so loving, intelligent, and open to growth. Their ability to embrace their talents in a spirit of servant leadership inspired me to do the same.” Print
